Deo

Deo – A tribe of Jats which is practically confined to the Sialkot district where they regard Sankatra as one of their ancestors and have a highly revered spot dedicated to him, in tho town of that name, in tahsil Zafarwal. They claim a very ancient origin, Their ancestor is said to be Mahaj, who came from “the Saki jungle” in Hindustcin. Of his five sons, Sohal, Kom, Dewal, Aulakh and Deo, the two latter gave their names to two Jat tribes, while the other branches dispersed over Gujranwala and Jhang. This clan peoples was founded in Amritsar region and majority of this clan peoples is belongs to Sikh Panth.
