History
Raja Rai Singh Solanki in Vikram Samant 650 (Gregorian calendar 593 AD) founded the town of Todaraisingh Village in Tonk. Rai Singh had two sons Jai Dev Singh Solanki, who was a saint and took samadhi. The other son was Rao Dharamdev Singh Solanki. Rao Karamchand Singh Solanki was son of Rao Dharamdev Singh Solanki, who left Todaraisingh with all his tribe due to invasion or natural calamit. The Solanki tribe marched towards the Delhi and fought other tribes of hills and jungle. 5 June 781 AD(838 Vikram Samwant), they reached the current location of Palam and laid the foundation of Dada Dev Mandir, in the memory of Jai Dada Dev/Jai Dev Solanki who was a saint and uncle of Rao Karamchand. Rao Karamchand Solanki founded Palam on 5 June 781 AD (838 Vikram Samant) which was near Sahibi river a tributary of Yamuna river. Rao Khan Das of Palam was appointed Chaudhary(headmen) of Palam pargana which consisted of 360 villages out of which he held the tappa of Palam as his watan jagir. His great grandson Nath Mal is said to have laid the foundation stone of Shahjanabad fort(Red Fort).
The 15th Sardar of Palam Chaudhary Jeet Singh Solanki (Jeeta) from 1648 to 1691 was very strong leader and had a large army. He had some influence in the court of Alamgir Aurangzeb. The elder brother of Jeeta, Karar Singh(1604-1681) was fond of hunting and luxury, In July of 1681 AD with few men he went for hunting in the hilly jungle between Mehrauli and Faridabad area. While hunting he got lost and entered in the territory of enemy hill tribe. Karar Singh got into dispute with them, he was outnumbered and beheaded. Jeeta after receiving the news got angry, with his Palam 360 army he went to suppress them, invaded and destroyed their territory. Brought back the head of his brother and the heads of enemies he killed. In the memory of his brave brother he built a Chhatri behind Shiv Mandir of Badiyal Palam in year 1691, known as Chaudhary Karar Singh Chhatri.
