History

Tangaur family trace there origin to Gurbaksh Singh of Gangobuha. Gaggobua village, was founded some 500 years ago by Gaggo, a Dhillon Jat Zamindar. In 1764, Sardar Gurbakash Singh Dhillon, of Gaggobua, who joined the Misl Shaheedan, joined the Dal Khalsa (Khalsa Army), He was a worshipper at the Damdama Temple, and became a recognized leader of the Shahid Misl with Dharam Singh and Karam Singh (see Shahidan misl). They started on a career of conquest on this side of the Satlaj, and of the spoils Gurbakhsh Singh received many rich villages in the bet tracts of the Markanda river. On the death of Daya Singh, son of Gurbakhsh Singh, the estate was divided amongst his two sons and one grandson Chatar Singh. Lal Singh, one of the sons, was dispossessed in 1839 for the murder of his brother’s wife.
