Air Marshal Kanwar Dalinderjit Singh is the son of Bhatti Jat Chief Kanwar Jagwant Singh, He is the descendants of Kunwar Karam Singh (b.1838-d.1896), who adopted by Rani Randhawi (wife of Maharaja Sher Singh Of Lahore)and his father served in the Indian Army till 1965. He later retired as Lieutenant Colonel, and settled in Patiala. His three sons have joined the National Defence Academy (NDA) near Pune. The youngest son, Kanwar Dalinderjit Singh, completed his education from
Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, where he cleared his Senior Cambridge exams. In 1970, he was Commissioned in. the Indian Air Force, as a fighter pilot, and fought in the liberation of Bangladesh the following year. Accordingly, he was awarded the Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal (AVSM) in 2000 and the Param Vishisht Sewa Medal in 2008 by the President of India. He retired on September 30, 2009.
