Colonel Sardar Bhagwan Singh Jaijee Of Churnal Kalan, was born into Shergill Jat family, he was the grandson of Sardar Bakshi Sardar Bir Singh Of Churnal Kalan, He was a highly decorated (Indian Order of Merit) Colonel in the Patiala State Army. He served during WW1 in 1st Rajindra Infantry in the Suez Canal Operation, Column to Bir Abu Tif, Gaza Operation, 2nd Es Sault Operation, Jordan Valley Operation, Operation in Amman. Colonel Bhagwan Singh’s son, Sardar Mohinder Singh was a Superintendent of Police (SP). He was awarded the King’s Medal for an act of bravery that involved killing a railway dacoit.
