Raja Charan Singh Of Ballabgarh , was successor of Raja Gopal Singh Of Ballabgarh , who was also ambitious, When Charan Singh saw weakening of the Mughal rule, he stopped paying malgujari (octroi) to Mughals. As a result, Mughals arrested and imprisoned Raja Charan Singh at Faridabad fort for a short time in 1714 during the reign of Farukhsiyar (region 1713–1719). His son Kunwar Balram Singh freed him by pretending to pay the ransom. Charan Singhs son,Kunwar Balram Singh, later rose to be a powerful king.
