He was a Jambar Jat of Maghiana in Lahore district, was a devoted warrior of the time of Guru Gobind Singh. Bhai Santokh Singh, Sri Gur Pratap Suraj Granth, lists him among those who received baptismal rites on the day the Khalsawas initiated (30 March 1699). Amrik Singh, according to Bhai Santokh Singh again, took part in Guru Gobind Singh`s first battle at Anandpur in 1700. And he faced the Mughals with great bravery in this war. And along with this he participated in many wars with Guru Gobind Singh and also won him victory in many wars.
