Bhanga Singh Of Dharmsinghwala, was born into Kang Jat family . He was the great-great-grandson of Dharam Singh, first cousin of the celebrated Sardar Tara Singh Gheba, whose history has been given in another chapter. These chiefs joined the Bhangi Misl in the sack of Kasur in 1758, enriching themselves with the booty.
They grew in power and acquired large estates in the Nakodar Tahsil of the Jullundur Doab and in Ferozepore. They took Dharamkot from the Rais of Raikot, and strengthened their position by building a mud fort within the village. They also captured Ramanwala and Mari in the Moga Tahsil.
