Choudhary Fatuhi of Gujjarwal, Was born into Grewal Jat family, he was a very well known personality of Gujjarwal area. His bravery was acknowledged by the people around. His residence was the fort he had made for himself. His property included many elephants, horses and chariots. Quite a large number of soldiers duly equipped with arms were at his command. Hunting was his hobby. Area under him had a large jungle full with trees and bushes where wild animals were plenty. Whenever he went for hunting, he used to mount his pet horse and took along his hawk seated on his arm. His soldiers and servants accompanied him to assist in his hunting. It used to be a great show to watch.

In 1688 Guru Hargobind Sahib came to the area of Gujjarwal and got established his camp outside the village. When Fatuhi came to know of Guruji camping in Gujjarwal locality, he came to him in a buoyant mood and paid his obeisance to Guruji with all humility. In a pleasant mood, he welcomed the Guru to his locality and presented his services and property at Guruji’s disposal. He said, “Guruji! Just order me whatever you wish. I will present what I have to you; may these be elephants, horses, chariots, soldiers, weapons, milk, ghee, wealth and whatever else is with me. You just point out. Whatever you say will be presented.” The great Guru said, “Dear Fatuhi! God has given me everything hence I need nothing.” ChoudharyFatuhi again repeated what he had said earlier and stated, “Please allow me to serve you. It will be my pleasure to be of any service to you.” He said this repeatedly; Guruji declining every time. Guruji knew that ChoudharyFatuhi loved the hawk most and he may not part with it but he asked for his hawk only to test him. Guruji said, “Even though I need nothing from you, still on your insistence I ask you to present me your pet hawk.” ChoudharyFatuhi was shocked and said instantly,

“No sir! This is my most loved bird. I love it more than my life. I can part with anything but not this hawk. It helps me in my hunting and increases my prestige as well.” Guruji kept quiet at his reply. Choudhary Fatuhi left with his paraphernalia. As he reached home and rested, his servant came running to him,

“Choudhary Sahib! A very bad news foryou. The hawk has eaten up the silk rope and is about to die.” Choudhary Fatuhi understood the underlying cause. He ran to the Guru with the hawk and fell at Guruji’s feet praying,” Guruji! Please do excuse me for the sin of refusing the hawk to you. Now, I cannot see my hawk dying. Please save it. It will be yours hereafter.” Guruji took the hawk, patted it and made the hawk to vomit the rope. As the hawk became fine, Guruji returned the hawk to Choudhary Fatuhi. Guru Hargobind Sahib thereafter stayed at Gujjarwal for about two months accepting Fatuhi’s hospitality. Now, a magnificent Gurdwara Guru Hargobind Sahib commemorates Guruji’s visit to this place. It has a sarover and a garden with fruit laden trees. The building has been renovated occasionally spending millions. The place where Guruji stayed is worshipped as Manji Sahib.Even accommodation for the stay of the visitors has been constructed. About 100 hectare land is attached to the Gurdwara. The administration is very effective carrying out maintenance and organizing functions on various Gurpurabs.
