Colonel Maharajkumar Shri Amarjit Singh Sahib Bahadur, CIE was born at Kapurthala State, 5th August 1893 , he was son of Maharaja Jagatjit Singh Of Kapurthala and Rani Parvati Kaur. He had his education at Coll de Normandie, Clères, near Rouen, France, Militar Theresianum Acad, Vienna, Austria, University of Paris, Sorbonne, Paris, France, and Christ Church, Oxford (BA 1916). Cmsnd as Hon Lieut 1st Kapurthala Jagatjit Infantry 1911, Hon Temp Hon 2nd-Lieut IA 31/12/1914, served in the Great War in France and Flanders with the 3rd Lahore Dvsn 1914-1915 (MID), prom Hon Captain IA 3/12/1918, President State Recruiting Committee 1917-1919, Hon ADC to the C-in-C India 1926-1930, ADC and Staff Officer to General Giraud, the Governor of Paris 1928-1929, prom Hon Major IA 18/1/1930 attached Royal Deccan Horse IA, Inspector General Kapurthala State Forces 1934-1944, prom Col Kapurthala State Forces 15/7/1940, Hon Lieut-Colonel IA 3/4/1942, attached as Hon Officer 4th Battalion 11th Sikh Regiment 22/5/1943, Dir of Education for Kapurthala State 1915-1927, Inspector-General of Police 1915-1927 and 1930-1933, Household Minister 1933-1944, Vice-president Kapurthala State Council 1939-1944. Attended the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the King-Emperor George V in London 1935. Member Marlborough, Imperial Gymkhana (Delhi), Royal Western India Turf, Willingdon Sports (Bombay), Calcutta, and Cercle InteralliÃc (Paris) Clubs.

He was married at Paris, France in 1922, and he got daughter Maharaj Kumarani Sonia Amarjit Singh [ Princess Sonya Kapurthala ] born at Yeisk, Kuban, Russia, 1890; died at Manhatten, New York, USA, 2nd July 1947, bur. there at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, Westchester Co), née Sophia Georgievna Adzhemova [Sophie Adjemoff], a distinguished aviatrix who set a world altitude record for women at 2,400 meters in 1912, and the first woman to loop-the-loop (with N.E. Popov) in 1913, settled in New York, USA 1942, former wife of Haroutune Popoff, tea merchant, and daughter of Georgi Adzhemov [George Adjemoff], merchant, of Novo – Nakhichevan, Rostov-on-Don, Russia, by his wife, Princess Bebutova (probably Princess Sophia Gregorievna Bebutova, younger daughter of Prince Gregory Nikolaievith [Melikass] Bebutov, Actual State Councillor).
