Colonel H.H. Maharaja Shri Brijendra Sawai Brijendra Singhji Bahadur Jang, Maharaja of Bharatpur. Was born at Sewar Fort Palace, Lohagarh, Bharatpur, 1st December 1918, eldest son of Colonel H.H. Maharaja Shri Brijendra Sawai Sir Kishan Singhji Bahadur Jang, Maharaja of Bharatpur, KCSI, by his wife, H.H. Maharani Sri Maji Sahiba Bibiji Rajendra Kaurji Sahiba, He was done there education from Bryanston School, Blandford, Dorset, and Wellington School, Somerset. He was succeeded on the death of his father, 27th March 1929. Ascended the Gadi 14th April 1929 and reigned under a Council of Regency until he came of age , and Invested with limited ruling powers, 22nd October 1939. Invested with full ruling powers, He become Honorable Lieutenant Bharatpur Mechanical Transport Troop 1919, Colonel-in-Chief Kishan Singh’s Own Brijendra Lancers 1929-1950. Commissioned as Honorable Lieutenant Indian Army in 21/7/1942, attached 21st KGVO Central India Horse, promote to Honorable Captain in 11/7/1944, HonorableLieutenant -Colonel on 15/8/1945, and HonorableColonel in 15/10/1946.
He was signed the instrument of accession to the Dominion of India, August 1947. Entered into a covenant with his fellow rulers to form the United State of Matsya on 28th February 1948, by which his state merged with that union effective from 17th March 1948. Consented to a further covenant creating the Greater Rajasthan union on 10th March 1949, by which his state merged with that union effective 15th May 1949 (when he ceased to enjoy sovereign powers).
Maharaja Brijendra Singh was MP (Lok Sabha) in 1962-1971. The GOI amended the Indian Constitution to remove his position as a “ruler” and his right to receive privy-purse payments, 28th December 1971. Sawai Brijendra Singh Of Bharatpur was received many Medals like Silver Jubilee in 1935, Coron. In 1937 and Indian Independence Medal in 1947 medals.
He was done there first marriage at the Amba Vilas Palace, Mysore 18th June 1941 with H.H. Maharani Sri Jayachamunda Ammani Avaru (born at Mysore, 30th October 1927; died in childbirth, at Bangalore Palace, Mysore, 1954), She was the third daughter of H.H. Maharajkumar Sri Sir Kanthirava Narasimharaja Wadiyar Bahadur, Yuvaraja of Mysore, GCIE, by his wife H.H. Soubhagyavati Yuvarani Sri Kempu Chelvaja Ammani Avaru, fourth daughter of The Hon Sardar Delavoi Devaraj Urs. Marriage second at Bharatpur in 22nd June 1961 (divorce in 1972) and with H.H. Maharani Sri Videh Kaurji Sahiba (born at Mysore, 5th February 1933; died at the Mahal Khas, Bharatpur, 5th February 1985), née Soubhagyavati Sri Sushila Lakshammani Avaru, daughter of Sardar Sri Subba Raj Urs, of the Turuvekere Urs family of Mysore.
He was died on 8th July 1995. His successor is H.H Maharaja Brijendra Sawai Vishvendra Singh Bahadur Jung Of Bharatpur.
