Sardar Amariit Singh Of Kaleke, was born in 1943 into a Sarao Jat Jagirdar family,he did his early schooling from Khalsa School, Patiala, and obtained his Master’s Degree in Political Science, From Mohindra College, Patiala, in 1963. In the same year, he joined the Indian Army and was commissioned the following year.He participated in the Indo-Pak War of 1965, receiving a gallantry award. In1970, he retired from the army, for a civil career, joining as an Assistant Professor in Political Science, at the Government College, Tanda, Punjab. He was later transferred to the Government Ripudaman College, Naha. In 1972, he was selected in the Provincial Civil Service, and was allocated to the Excise and Taxation Department, as Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner(E.T.O) till his retirement in 2001. In 1972, he married Sardarni Jasminder Kaur,daughter of Mann Jat chief Sardar Sukhdev Singh Mann of village Lopon, Ludhiana District. She obtained her Master’s Degree from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, in Rajasthan. From 1993 to 1998, along with his wife, he joined his two sons in the United States. In 2010 and 2013, he obtained two Master’s Degrees, in Divinity and Religious Studies, and in Sikh Studies. He is privately undertaking on writing about his experience in the United States, especially on the martyrdom of his brother Satwant Singh,During the shooting of innocent Sikhs at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin in 2012.He and his wife are residents of Patiala and have two sons; Gurmit Singh and Gurjit Singh.
