Sardar Bahadur Ajit Singh Of Alawalpur was the son of Sarda rAchal Singh, was far more successful and distinguished than his elder brother. He was appointed Sub-Registrar of Alawalpur in 1875, and became an Honorary Magistrate in 1881. The title of ‘Sardar Bahadur’ was conferred upon him by Viceroy Lord Dufferin’s (1826-1902) mandate in 1888. He was known to be very liberal, open minded and gained immense recognition from every official associated with the Jalandhar District. His demeanour and philanthropy was a rage amongst the people. He was married to the daughter of Sardar Jai Singh of Sankhatra, Sialkot District. He passed away in 1889.
