Sardar Dal Singh Gill of Akalgarh, was born into Gill Jat family, He was in association with Charat Singh occupied Ahmedabad in 1767. When Mahan Singh defeated the Chathas in 1783, Dal Singh was given Alipur (Akalgarh). Like Jodh Singh of Wazirabad, Dal Singh helped Sahib Singh when he was besieged by Mahan Singh. In 1797, he, however, helped Ranjit Singh in his campaign against Jan Muhammad Chatha, who was all bent to revive the principality of the Chathas.His territory was taken over by Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Lahore after Dal Singh’s death in 1804. His widow was given two villages for subsistance.
