Sardar Lehna Singh Of Kalsia , Was born into a Sandhu Jat family and descendants of Sardar Gurbakhsh Singh Of Kalsia, In 1858, he dispatched Jamadar Samand Khan, as the head of a hundred soldiers, bound for Lucknow, to support the Deputy Commissioner of Ambala, in crushing a revolt. As a result, the Kalsia State remained firmly intact, as a British protectorate, and Sardar Lehna Singh was granted a sanad for services rendered in 1862. He overhauled the army and brought in new rules and procedures, which were instituted with a proper system of documentation, and introduced cash payments for wages, that were put in place. He used Chhachhrauli and Dera Bassi as his capital, staying six months in each places. He had married thrice, first to Sardarni Mehtab Kaur, who died young and childless. Attar Kaur, the daughter of Sardar Jagin Singh of Bahmand near Patiala, who gave birth to a son, Bishen Singh in 1854, ensuring an heir. His daughter, Haram Kaur, married Sardar Kehar Singh, son of Sardar Shamsher Singh of Bharatgarh. He was died on February 14, 1868, and his wife Attar Kaur, a month later.
