Sardar Preminder Singh Sandhanwalia Of Raja Sansi was born in1931 into a Bhatti Jat family,He was the son of Sardar Narender Singh Of Raja Sansi (1900-1988). Majority or his upbringing, education and career spar was in Mumbai and in Delhi. He studied at St.Mary’s High School, Mumbai, and later at the Forman Christian College, Lahore in 1946. He obtained a Science Degree from the Institute of Science, Mumbai (established by Sir George Clark in 1911), which was followed by an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Bombay in 1949. In 1954 Preminder Singh joined the Central Public Works Department of the Government of India in New Delhi. Later, he was deputed to specialize in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics at the International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering in Tokyo from 1962-3.

Thereafter, he was again deputed to the International Airports Authority of India, As Director of Engineering in 1972. In 1983 he joined She International Civil Aviation Authority (CAO). At a later stage he was responsible for the design, plan and construction of airports across Asia, Africa (Sudan and Ethiopia) and Nauru in the South Pacific region. Post retirement, he authored three books. His first book was Noblemen and Kinsmen History of a Sith Family, which was published in 1999.

His second book Beyond Identity was released in 2007, and the third book was Celebrity: Its Changing Face in India Through the Ages, published in May 2012.It scrutinised the idea of celebrity inIndian culture through the ages. Preminder Singh retired In 1996, and his hobbies included reading books, having a very impressive library to ruminate at his residence in Chandigarh. He married Sardarni Kushal Pal Kaur, daughter of Colonel Harpal Singh Sidhu of Chak Sherewala near Sri Muktsar Sahib. He has two sons ; Drishinder Singh and Birinder Singh.
