Sardar Simarnarain Singh of Moron, was born in Murree, (now in Pakistan) in 1943, into Bhangu Jat family, He was educated at the prestigious Lawrence School, Sanawar, and St Columba’s School, New Delhi. He has been a Company Executive, throughout his career, starting with his first job as a tea planter with James Warren and Company in Upper Assam, India. Later, he became a successful General Manager with Britannia Industries of India, and then a Director with an American company.
He was a skilled horseman, having taken part in several horse shows in India and abroad. An accomplished polo player, who has represented his country at national and international levels, and is also a well known polo commentator. He is married to Clementine Foster, MBE, a Scottish lady, and they have a son, Shivnarain Singh.
