Risaldar Sardar Kojha Singh Sarkaria of Ghorewah, was born in 1849, he was the son of Raja Khushal Singh Sarkaria of Ghorewah served in the Central India Horse with distinction, and fought with the British Indian Army in the Afghan battles. On retirement, he was granted the status of ‘Kursi Nashin’ by the British.This allowed selected Indian officers and chiefs to be seated while visiting English dignitaries, who were issued ‘KursiNashin’ certificates. He was married to Sardarni Kishan Kaur (1853-1942), daughter of Jamadar Saudagar Singh of Mahkan, near Amritsar. He was died in 1932.
