Choudhary Gujjar of Gujjarwal, was born into Grewal Jat family, he was a son of Choudhary Jaspal, Zamindar of Koolrian, he was a handsome with a broad forehead, grey eyed, thick eyebrows , a long and sharp nose, and a very good physique. He grew up to be a strong boy who excelled himself in the fields of wrestling, kabbadi, fencing, and archery. As he matured, he mastered the arts of horse-riding, swords-man-ship, and tent-pegging and gained the proficiency of a marksman with a gun. At the age of 20-21, he gained the confidence of all his colleagues in martial arts and thus became their leader. As he became famous, more and more people joined his band and gradually, it became a formidable force under his command. From Koolrian Chaudhri Gujjar came along Rai Falla and Baba Kaloo and settled in Ludhiana district. He foresaw the decline of the Mughal Empire and with his forces and family moved in the Northern direction and passed by the ruins of the first settlement of Grewals at Naiabed. They had not gone far when the axle of one of the chariots carrying ladies got broken/detached. The efforts to repair the same before nightfall did not succeed. That night was no-moon night (masya). Chaudhary Gujjar ordered camping there itself. The night camp was converted into a regular settlement and he started operating from here. This settlement was the beginning of village Gujjarwal on his name. It was the year 1469 AD the year of birth of Guru Nanak. He acquired 10800 acres of land and established his state with its capital in Gujjarwal. Later the villages established under the Raipur Gujjarwal estate were 64 villages including Qila Raipur, Narangwal, Lohgarh, Phallewal, etc. (a belt being called Grewal villages). 10800 acres of land was further subdivided between village Gujjarwal and Qila Raipur, 5400 acres each. Gujjarwal shared its 5400 acres of land with Narangwal, Lohgarh, and Mehma Singh Walla. Now Gujjarwal owns 2714 acres, and Narangwal, Lohgarh, and Mehma Singh Walla have a combined share of 2686 acres. The rest of the 5400 acres belong to Qila Raipur. He was established his state with its capital at Gujjarwal and named it Raipur-Gujjarwal state.
